M.O.T.I.V.E - Music Opportunities To Incarcerated Voices Everywhere.

M.O.T.I.V.E ( Music Opportunities To Incarcerated Voices Everywhere) was created to decrease youth and young adult incarceration through the power of story-telling through music. As incarcerated adults write/record their lyrical experiences on what led them to crime, and it is shared with youth and young adults (who in-turn) critically evaluate the messages, M.O.T.I.V.E bridges generational gaps, changes the trajectory for youth and young adults, and provides healing for everyone impacted by the crime.

Mission

To give youth, incarcerated individuals, their families, and victims an outlet to express childhood and adult traumas through music.

Vision

MOTIVE envisions a world that uses music as an intervention for trauma.

Who We Serve

Incarcerated Individuals

Being able to tell their story through music provides healing while keeping their minds occupied, this has been proven to decrease violent incidents and recidivism when incarceration is complete.

Youth and Young Adults

Young people can learn and heal through music. With critical listening and an incarcerated individual’s stories, youth can understand and process their own emotions and traumas with the goal of avoiding youth incarceration/detention.

Victims

Victim-Perpetrator Reconciliation, is a voluntary process that helps victims and offenders come together to communicate and understand one another with the goal of forgiveness.

Families

Whether this is the first time a family is facing the criminal justice system or one of several times, there is trauma for the family that music therapy can heal.
