Our Services
M.O.T.I.V.E is committed to providing Music Related programs and services that include these components:

1
Story Telling & Self-Expression
Through Story-Telling & Self-Expression individuals are able to authentically release any guilt, shame, pain, regrets etc. that may impact their mental health whether incarcerated physically or mentally.
2
Healing
Healing for incarcerated individuals, their family members, and victims opens the doors for each individual to forgive and ultimately enable them to lead happy and healthier lifestyles following trauma.
3
Education & Awareness
Educating youth and the community-at large on the impact of Music Therapy, can lead to additional support, prevention of incarceration, and a reduction in recidivism.
MOTIVE Music Therapy
For The Incarcerated
In MOTIVE Music Therapy a trained “MOTIVE Therapy Coach” is matched with an incarcerated adult participant (s). An assessment is taken to determine the participant’s commitment and desire for the program. After a successful assessment, the Coach works with the participant on storytelling/lyric writing, recording, and production of the song. After completion, the songs are used to connect with the family, victims, and youth with hopes to begin their healing journey .

MOTIVE Music Therapy
For The Incarcerated "In The Mind"
Incarceration does not have to take place physically. Some people (especially family and victims of the incarcerated) are trapped inside their mind and emotions desperately seeking to be free. M.O.T.I.V.E offers its “MOTIVE Music Therapy” to individuals seeking music therapy to cope with their own experiences that may be tied to an incarcerated individual. A ”MOTIVE Therapy Coach” is matched with a motivated family member, victim, or youth and given an opportunity to tell their own story/lyrics, record, and produce music. After completion, the songs are used to connect with the incarcerated individual with hopes to begin forgiveness and mutual healing.
CRITICAL LISTENING
"Workshops"
The finished songs (recorded by incarcerated individuals) will be data we use for a critical listening workshop held in High schools. In the workshop there will be the host of the event, a therapist or life coach and a special guest to lead a critical listening session with a group of 10-15 participants. In the critical listening session, the finished songs will be broken down together to identify different emotions the artist was experiencing, the different planes the artist is referencing (past, present, future), and dissect metaphors, etc. The goal of the workshop is to hone the next generation ability to analyze problems critically, learn from others mistakes to increase productive decision making, and to also have an opportunity to use music as mental therapy.
